
Kevin Vasquez Hutcheson, Esq. is the founding partner of HUTCHESON, AFFRONTI & DEISINGER, P.C. After spending years as a shareholder and equity partner at a previous trial law firm, Mr. Hutcheson started a firm with members of his team with the focus on litigating all types of cases with a specific focus on defending hospitals, physicians, mid-level providers and other healthcare professionals. Mr. Hutcheson defends medical malpractice lawsuits, handles all matters associated with State and Federal regulatory agencies dealing with hospitals, physician groups, and individual providers, including disciplinary proceedings and oversight. Mr. Hutcheson successfully tries cases to verdict, has extensive appellate practice, as well as healthcare administrative matters. For more than 20 years, Mr. Hutcheson’s primary area of expertise has involved medical and healthcare related matters on behalf of hospitals, physicians, nursing homes and other health care providers, including guiding individual health care providers and institutions through investigations involving the New York State Office of Professional Medical Conduct (“OPMC”), State Office of Professional Discipline (“OPD”), New York State Department of Health (“DOH”), the New York State Justice Center, and the New York State Office of Mental Health (“OMH”), among others.
Mr. Hutcheson is frequently called upon to advise hospitals, large and small physician groups, as well as individual providers in best practices, general counsel matters, risk management, corporate compliance and insurance and corporate issues. He routinely provides in-service education, lectures and seminars to members of the boards of directors and physician staff in all medical specialities from critical care to surgery. He also educates mid-level providers and nursing staff on current medical/legal matters, policies and procedures, and daily practice issues.
With decades of experience in the construction industry, Mr. Hutcheson also handles construction-related issues not only for health care instituations both large and small, but other professionals in the construction field such as architects, engineers, general and sub-contractors, and premise owners in matters dealing with initital contracting to litigating disputes, including change orders and defects.
Mr. Hutcheson has also served as an adjunct professor teaching law at Niagara University since 2008.
